Canon 5d Mark iii

If you shoot Canon and have been living under a rock there is still a small chance that you haven’t heard the announcement. This was in my inbox yesterday from Canon:

Canon has addressed the issues voiced by the 5D Mark ii users and have one a spot on job. The AF (auto focus) system was atrocious on the 5D mark ii. So much so that I began wondering if switching to Team Nikon was an option (thankfully, I no longer even have consider it!!!) What the rumor mills

Photo quality is an expected upgrade with each iteration, so it’s presence is not astonishing. I am actually grateful that the megapixels didn’t soar skywards towards the medium format range. I have no need for more. I have never delivered a full res RAW image to a client and honestly? Bigger files mean less photos on one card which means more cards.

Speaking of cards, I was hoping that there would be a CF and SD for greater flexibility. And indeed it seems Canon listened.

The video upgrades seem like they must be amazing but, I’m not a video person so it has little impact on what I do.

Overall, I think this release demonstrates that Canon is really listening to us the users. An that feels nice.
