Bringing Out the Best in People
BRINGING OUT THE BEST IN PEOPLE by Alan Loy McGinnis

This is a fantastic book. There are not just leadership ideas in here but thoughts on becoming a better person. I think this is so critical in really implementing the law of attraction. You make the world a better place by helping others be their best which, in turn, makes you better.

It’s not a particularly large book but is stuffed with helpful information. Mr. McGinnis is a psychotherapist who had an active practice at the time of the writing and understood the need for parents and CEO’s alike to gain better people skills. Originally published in 1985… Read my full review

OUTLIERS by Malcolm Gladwell

If you have ever wondered why some people are so successful and others not, Malcolm Gladwell lays out fascinating insight into the background and circumstances of geniuses and successful businessmen such as Bill Gates.

The book gives you hope that you have more control over your destiny that you may have thought. If you look a little further than the stories and facts presented, I believe you can come up with a new and improved belief about your potential.

TRAVELS by Michael Crichton

Michael Crichton tells his own story in his memoirs. Originally published in 1988, he tells of his world travels but, more importantly, leads you though his inner journey. I bought this book new when in came out and reread it ever few years. Coming from a family of bookworms, we have fought over who gets to reread it next. My copy is well worn, stained and dog earred but I wouldn’t trade it in.

He begins the book by talking about his years in medical school with the opening line of the book being “It is not easy to cut through a human head with a hacksaw…” (describing his required autopsy at Harvard).

EAT, PRAY, LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert

Elizabeth Gilbert knocked my socks off with her writing style. This is her memoirs of her own spiritual journey. I find it comforting to read about how other people have come to enact change in their lives. Although she doesn’t mention the law of attraction directly, she does come to a few of the same conclusions as she ventures through the world.

I have reread this book several times.

LOVE & RESPECT by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs

This is a christian book but it really delves into the difference between what a man wants out of a relationship and what a woman wants. It goes into detail about not just what, but how. This book was actually a purchase of my husband’s and he handed it over when he was done. Because of it, I changed a significant part of how I handle my relationship with him.

I find myself recommending this book over and over to people I run into that are having a hard time in their relationship but I also think it’s great for couples doing okay as well. It’s a great way to strengthen an already good relationship and make it stronger.

WHAT THE BLEEP!? – Down the Rabbit Hole (QUANTUM Three-Disc Special Edition)

I have the first version of this movie. This is a documentary (sort of) that introduces you to the link between science and spirituality via Quantum Physics. Down the Rabbit Hole is a republish with new features that allow some interaction. In fact, I need to repurchase this because I lent it out and never got it back. I think I’ll get this one.

I recommend spending the extra five bucks and getting the updated, three disk version.

THE POWER OF INTENTION by Dr. Wayne Dyer

Wayne Dyer was my first introduction to the law of attraction (he calls it the power of intention). I watched this for free on PBS for a fundraiser he was doing where you had the chance to buy it at the end. I couldn’t pull out my credit card fast enough. He tells it like it is.

THE SECRET by Rhonda Byrne

The Secret is a great place to start with the law of attraction. I recommend the movie over the book. It’s done well and you can’t help but feel motivated when while you are watching it.

Mind Movies

I happened upon mind movies when browsing a favorite forum. Someone had mentioned them in passing in a post. Almost instantly a handful of people asked “What is a mind movie?” By way of an answer, a mind movie was posted in the forum. I was intrigued. They are basically vision boards in a movie format.

The idea is to add movement to photos and affirmations paired with a great song. Ideally this engages more of your grey matter to really get your manifesting juices flowing. If you want to check it out, they provide you with six pre-made movies (ex. money, health, spirituality) for free. They sell their software (pretty reasonably priced) if you want to make a custom movie. Their software is really super simple to use.

You can check out a few on YouTube by doing a search for them by name. They are customized mind movies made by other users who, in an effort to “send their message out into the universe” post their movies there.
